An Ode to January

Corvallis winter’s one month in
No arctic blasts, it’s scary
So odd to have such mildness at
The end of January

But no complaints, don’t get me wrong
It’s good last year concluded
More absence at the gym each day
Not what was resoluded

But that’s OK, instead go forth
And pour yourself a beer
To mark the anniversary cuz
It happens every year

Then as you celebrate, rejoice
This one fact that’s worth knowing
It still is two months more until
The grass begins re-growing
