Aptera

Overlooking
Souda Bay
Ancients built
What stands today

A battlefield
In every age
Armies marched
Wars waged

Minoa, Venice
Turkey, Rome
Each declaring
It their home

The mighty conquerors
All met their doom
And in the ruins
Flowers bloom
