Oh summer, how the time we savored
Such great fun with you
A brief release for good behavior
But ending, now it’s true
Motor homers packed all day
Crammed their vans, then drove away
These people really have odd zen
Getting away from it all
Means taking it with them
It isn’t just for long vacations
That toys get brought along
Because right now in education
Technology sings its song
Papers, pencils, notebooks, rulers
Things once packaged up for schoolers
Now iPhones, Web and internet
Are what it seems each child must get
When school begins, this coming autumn
Modern parents will have bought ‘em
And modern teachers too will find
That no iPad gets left behind
So thank you teachers, every one
I truly have been blessed
Although it wasn’t always fun
I really can attest
That verses writ by fools like me
