My Buddy Stan

My buddy Stan
Is living life
He’s had his kids
He loves his wife

He’s had his moments
Setbacks too
Fought for what
Is right and true

And never did
The man complain
When docs took pieces
Of his brain

We go way back
To Illinois
Where both of us
Were little boys

Twas so much fun
When we would play
Made Michael
Disappear one day

Whene’er it snowed
We’d ride our sleds
And go toss walnuts
At Goldie’s shed

I’m thinking how
He’s loving life
And dealing with
The mental strife

He is a brave one
Quite the man
This ode’s for you
My buddy Stan
