(written in the early stages of COVID)
The doors are locked and knobs are wiped
Overdue emails are getting typed
Forgotten friends long lost are Skyped
A virus is in town
Society is interrupted
Businesses have been disrupted
And smiles are certainly corrupted
Faces all have frowns
Spring’s a time when we should be
Sitting underneath a tree
But we can’t do that now, you see
A virus is in town
We’ve all got masks atop our faces
Avoiding all the public spaces
So we can’t go too many places
Due to a lock down
But restaurants will fill once more
And people will go from door to door
Things will be just like before
That virus came to town
