’Twas a day before Christmas and at Santa’s base
The old guy was pacing all over the place
The elves were hardworking, the sleigh getting filled
Anticipating children’s wishes fulfilled
When suddenly what to his eyes did appear
But a report of an illness among his reindeer
He dialed up his vet who confirmed thereupon
A new form of COVID they called omicron
The virus was spreading because he had waited
To get his eight reindeer all vaccinated
And no one had seemed to be up to the task
Of taking precautions, like wearing a mask
The problem was serious, he knew it was true
When Rudolph’s red nose got runny with goo
Santa knew well that without his reindeer
The children would have no Christmas this year
“I’ve got to do something,” he declared in a panic
“I have a solution,” said his sled mechanic
“The person next door, with the big herd, for instance”
“Has reindeer with masks and they socially distance”
Santa called up his neighbor and as he suspected
His friend’s herd of reindeer was not COVID infected
So Santa did borrow eight reindeer that night
Though it altered his call when they took off in flight
“On Masker, on Astra, Moderna and Pfizer”
“There’ll be Christmas now cuz my neighbor was wiser”
Then finishing off with a wish of good cheer
“Merry Christmas to all and a healthy new year”
