It’s good to be back to Illinois
My home when I was just a boy
The years have rapidly slipped by
When I spent time at Unity High
Friends have scattered
To far out places
Oh how I miss
Your friendly faces
I miss the farmers growing corn
Frosty bus rides in the morn
Mendon, Fowler, fields of grain
Ursa, Lima, and Lorraine
All of you mean so much to me
Growing up, you helped me see
That kindness and hospitality
Are central to integrity
Midwestern values are the backbone of
This country that so much we love
Our roots, the important history
Uplifiting camaraderie
It’s wonderful with you to spend
Time here in your community
That word has impact to me, dear friends
Referring to common unity
And so with that, a toast at last
Remembering those who before us passed
From us still standing, we proclaim to all ears
Our respect and all our love. Cheers
