Career Considerations

I happened to be in the business
Of finding myself a career
But, unfortunately, my options
Were not so very clear

I thought of being a policeman
But the problem that I saw
Was I would only have work
If people broke the law

I thought of a career in medicine
But dropped that very quick
Because my success would depend upon
People getting sick

Next I considered dentistry
But realized that they
Make money mostly only when
There is much tooth decay

To work as a mechanic
Might be nice around this town
But I would need a lot of folks
To have their cars break down

Undertaking appealed at first
But now I think not, instead
Because I’d hate to be waiting for
People to drop dead

So I’ve decided a thief I’ll be
I’m guessing you can tell
Cuz I’ll do better yessiree
When my neighbors are doing well
