The month began with fireworks loud
Those pops and rocket sights
And people shouting out, “Oh wow”
For all the summer Knights
The month did surely go by fast
As students relocated
The town feels empty, now at last
For summer we’ve awaited
But peace is lost with auto noise
From mufflers loud and grating
Some say they’re toys for little boys
Just overcompensating
But you will not hear me attack
These autos I’ve deplored
Cuz I remember this one fact
A pen is mightier than a Ford
Before I go, vacation’s here
Goodbye to winter’s glooms
And when your motor home’s in gear
You’re driving three bed-varooms
