New Prayers

Eater
Now I lay me
Down to sleep
Last night I had
Too much to eat
If I should not
Tomorrow wake
It’s this god awful
Stomach ache

Drinker
Now I lay me
Down, I think
I may have had
Too much to drink
If I should moan
Before I wake
Please bring me aspirin
For heaven’s sake

Tired
Now I lay me
On my bed
I’m feeling like
The walking dead
If I should snore
And moan and squeak
Please let me sleep
Another week

Tall
Now I lay me
Tween my sheets
Where all is warm
Except my feets
This wish could not
Be any stronger
I need my sheets
A little longer
