Oversleeping

Seventeen years
Is a long time to sleep
That’s certainly a lot
Of counting the sheep

Clem the cicada
Who always runs late
Is now gonna have
A very long wait

Cuz he set his alarm
To sleep in a bit
And now all his buddies
Seem to have split

“Where’s everybody?”
“Meg, Bill, and Artie?”
“My mojo is peaking”
“I’m ready to party”

Alas, there was no one
Who answered his call
No dinner, no dancing
And no alcohol

Clem’s learned his lesson
Just a wee bit too late
Twill be 17 more years
Until he gets a date
