Plant Life

A plant’s earliest memories
Are dirt and an urge to stand tall
Then it stares at the sun
From spring until fall

Growing roots to get water
With minerals below
And carbon dioxide
Helping things grow

Along the way creating
Houses for seed
Vegetables, nuts, or fruit
Indeed

And then at the end
When their bodies are toast
They conveniently turn
Into compost
