The Brain I Left Behind

Our grand adventure’s here at last
We rode to PDX
To catch a plane to take us to
Our destination next

The ticket agent helped us with
Our passes with some shruggage
Then stuck bar codes upon the bags
To link us with our luggage

When we arrived in Athens
The clock said it was morn
The skies were partly cloudy
The temperature was warm

Bedtime seemed to come too late
The body said to me
And when I woke the next day
The time was ten til three

Oh getting here was easy
Thanks to the Delta plane
I didn’t lift a finger
But still I must complain

The issue isn’t timeliness
Or turbulence or baggage
For me the biggest problem is
The one they call jet laggage

It means the body’s here, all right
And ready for vacay
But the brain is still in Oregon
Ten time zones away
