The Island of Conundra

Welcome to Isle of Conundra
A place that’s strange and grand
The only island in the world
Surrounded entirely by land

People come for our desert
No muss, no fuss, no fee
If they get lost and often do
It’s long time, no sea

The land’s a topical paradise
That people view in hindsight
Vacations at a hefty price
Seven days, but only two nights

Unlike lands that were discovered,
It’s not Conundra’s situation
It was invented, not uncovered
A real imagined nation

As a country, visitors say we are
Very very weird
Inhibited by people near and far
Who all have disappeared

The queen of the land is splendid with
A ton of court attendants
Each one is dressed identically
With a decoration of independence

The country prides its reading might
And has outstanding diction
Our fortune tellers every night
Are reading seance fiction

Although we’re proud, there is no doubt
Conundra isn’t heaven
The pirates here hand money out
But only in pieces of seven

You know the phrase “Same old, same old”?
It expresses our citizens’ views
Things are so bad, the frat guys bold
Request you “Please Send News”

We hope you enjoy your stay here
Spending money you have earned
Cuz if you don’t, you will not leave
There’s a deposit, but no return
